FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How much do you charge?
I am a fully qualified teacher and experienced phonics tutor and reading specialist and charge based on my experience and ability to get excellent results.
I offer 3 tuition packages for 1:1, Paired and Group tuition. I charge my rates termly with one session free (12 weeks, 24 sessions) or you can opt to pay in 4 equal monthly payments. I will discuss with you the best package during our initial call.
2. How long are your lessons?
My lessons range from 30 minutes for group and paired sessions to 45 minutes for 1:1. Children in paired and group sessions are required to have two sessions per week. I find when children work with me on a consitent and frequent basis, they make the best progress and have better outcomes.
3. Do you offer free trial sessions?
I do not offer free trial sessions. Instead you will be offered to book a free reading check
with me. This helps us to make a decision on what support you child needs. I do offer a taster session for @ £20 for parents that are still on the fence!
4. Do you offer any guarantees that my child will get results?
I can promise you my commitment to your child's reading journey, but I ask for patience. Learning to read is a process that takes time and lots of practice.
As a teacher for over 24 years, I have learnt that all children learn differently and make progress in different ways. You will get a progress report to show the impact of tutoring. If there are any concerns, I will share this with you.
I can say this, 99% of my students make a noticeable improvement in their learning after as little as 6 weeks. Some children take time to adjust to tutoring so this can be longer. You can help by supporting your child's learning and promoting a positive growth mindset.
With your support and daily reading practice at home, you can expect your child to improve their reading and meet their reading goals. I will work with you to make sure your child is making suitable progress based on our time together. If you would like to discuss your child's progress, you can always book a consultation with me.
Wnat are your terms and conditions?
Here are my terms and conditions which I will ask you to read prior to tutoring.

Online Tutoring

What is online tutoring?
Online tutoring is support for your child provided by me via a video link called Zoom. It can take place at any time from the comfort of your own home which makes it very convenient. All your child needs to do is log in!

Is it as effective as in person?
I have experience with both in-person and online tutoring. I prefer online because I can make the lesson more personalised with an assortment of resources. Yes! I think it is as effective as in-person tuition.
Many children love to be able to have an interactive and fun lesson, which I am able to provide. Online tutoring can help your child get better results!

How does it work?
Your child will be provided a Zoom link for lessons. Please provide a quiet area for them to work and a working computer, or laptop. If your child wants to, they can interact with the screen, either using a mouse to draw/ write on the screen or if they have a touch screen-they can use an interactive pen or their finger.
Otherwise, a whiteboard and pen are sufficient for most lessons. My 1:1 lessons follow a routine-warm up, guided practice, and independent activity. Group phonics sessions are taught in small groups. Children can interact and answer questions as they wish, with no pressure!

The best way to find out if my support would be right for your child is to book a no-obligation call. We can talk about what would work best for your child.
