Who are the lessons for?
Children aged 4–7 (Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) who need support or a confidence boost with phonics and early reading.
Lessons are delivered online, after school, and are suitable for children living in the UK or Europe, where lesson times align with UK time (4:00–6:00 pm).
What happens in the phonics trial lesson?
The phonics trial lesson is a single 30-minute session.
During the session, your child will:
🧩 Take part in a fun, gentle phonics check
🧩 Play a structured phonics game to help build confidence and rapport
🧩 Be supported in a calm, child-friendly online lesson
This session helps me understand your child’s current phonics skills, how they engage with learning, and their readiness for group sessions.
Is there ever a second trial session?
If your child appears to be a good match for one of my current Phonics Pals groups, I'll invite them to attend a second trial session with that group.
This gives your child the chance to:

🧩 Learn alongside other children
🧩 Make sure the group feels comfortable and confidence-building
A second trial session is only offered when there is a suitable group available and is used as a final check before joining a group.
What do I need to prepare?
🧩 A quiet space
🧩 A laptop or tablet with Zoom
🧩 Paper and a pencil (optional)
Everything else is guided, supportive, and child-friendly.
How do lessons work after the trial?
If your child is a good fit for an existing Phonics Pals group, they will join that group straight away.
If there isn’t an immediate group match, your child can begin lessons straight away, following the same Phonics Pals structure and approach.
As soon as another child joins who is a suitable match in level and learning style, they will be paired together to form or join a small group. Children are introduced carefully so the transition feels smooth and confidence-building.
What resources are provided?
Once you decide to join a Phonics Pals group and the first payment is made, your child will receive a Phonics Kit to support their learning at home.
The kit includes:

These resources are used regularly in lessons and help children feel confident and prepared.
How soon will my child start?
Most children begin the following week, depending on group spaces and availability.

Please note: I have only a small number of optional one-to-one slots for group students who need extra support.
If your child would benefit from this, I usually recommend one small-group session plus one additional 1:1 lesson each week or fortnightly.
This gives your child the structure, confidence and personalised attention they need to make steady progress.
